What is the age cutoff for football?
Our "Pee Wee Year" runs from August 1 - July 31; players "Pee Wee Age" is their age on August 31st of the "Pee Wee Year". For example, the 2024-25 Pee Wee Year runs August 1, 2024 - July 31, 2025. A player's Pee Wee Age for all sports within the 2024-25 Pee Wee year (2024 Football, 2025 Basketball and 2025 Baseball) is their age on August 31, 2024.

How much does football cost?
May 31st - July 31st
A, B, C, & D String - $250
Flag - $150

After August 1st (registration will close August 9th):
A, B, C, & D String - $275
Flag - $150

Gear Security Deposits
Registration must be paid in full (and both age and address verification on record) to be allocated to a team and receive practice gear. We also ask for a security deposit when gear is handed out for A, B, C & D levels. Deposits are taken in the form of debit, credit card, or check. The card/check would only run or deposited if a player's gear is not returned at the end of the season.

Please note required deposit amounts for each string below. We had a significant amount of uniforms NOT TURNED IN last season. Each player will need a separate check or credit card receipt for their deposit so we can run it at the end of the season should that player not return their gear. For example, if you have a player on A string and another on B String, you cannot write a check for $600 with both their names on it. You will need a check written out for $300 for each player.

Again, your bank will only be charged for the deposit if you do not turn in the gear at the end of the season.

A, B, C & D - $300 Deposit
Flag - NO DEPOSIT

What does my registration fee go towards?
Because we are a non-profit organization our sports programs are run almost entirely on registration fees. Registration fees help pay for field rentals, sport equipment, training aids, insurance fees, official fees, field maintenance, general club expenses (utilities, building maintenance, etc.) and lavatory facilities.

Can we register in person? Where?

You may attend one of our scheduled in-person registration sessions at the Warren Ave Clubhouse. However, because our registration and team management system is web-based, we do require that you have a valid email address to register.
Dates:
Wednesday, July 10th 7:00 - 8:00 pm (This is also our July Board Meeting)
Thursday, July 25th 5:30-7pm
Friday, July 26th 5:30-7pm

Do you offer any scholarships for players?

Scholarships are dependent on donations, and available on a case by case basis.
** Requests must be made in person at one of the In-Person Registration days above or during practice.
** Scholarship requests will be discussed at our August board meeting. We will determine funds available and how much support can be given.
** If partial scholarships are awarded, you will have until the 1st scheduled game to pay the balance or your player will be ineligible until paid.
** NEW scholarship requests WILL NOT be considered after the August board meeting on 8/14/23.

When do practices begin?
FREE open camp to everyone will start July 24th to July 31st from 5-7. No gear will be handed out, come on down! Meet local coaches, meet parents and possible teammates! Or just stop on by and see if football is for you! Practices begin on Thursday, August 1st. Practice days can vary but typically will occur Monday through Friday until the first game for A, B, C, & D strings. Flag will likely be 3 times a week. After the first game practices will occur 3-4 times per week at the coach's discretion.

Where are practices and games located?
Practices are held at the Warren Avenue Play Field (Carpenter Field), as are home games for C and D levels. All home games for A and B levels will be at Bremerton High School's Memorial Stadium.

What should we provide?

Players on A, B, C, & D will be issued a helmet, shoulder pads, a separate jersey and football pants for practice and games. Players on Flag will receive a helmet and game t-shirt. All players should obtain a set of cleats and a protective cup.

How long is the season?
Football season starts in early August. All games are on Saturdays with the first game being on the Saturday after Labor Day. The regular season runs for 7 weeks. Playoffs continue for another 3 weeks culminating in the League Championships.

Is my child able to play up/down?
Requests to "play down" are rare and made on a case by case basis. These cases are to be presented to the Warren Avenue Board and also to Central Council at one of the KPAPWA meetings which typically take place the first Wednesday of every month @ 8pm, located at Silverdale Clubhouse. Central Council is the deciding factor in all play down requests. We do allow players to "play up" but highly encourage that players stay within their string level determined by the Pee Wee age bracket. "Play up" requests are to be made to the registrar, coordinator and/or head coach and will be reviewed by the Warren Avenue board for approval.

Volunteering and Opting- Out

When registering, you have the opportunity to volunteer for one or more roles in addition to the concessions volunteer requirement.  If you are planning to interact with players during practices and/or games (as a coach or helper), please be aware that you will be required to:

  1. Fill out a Coaches Pledge
  2. Complete a WSP Background Check
  3. Take the online Sudden Cardiac Arrest certification course.  You can find the necessary documentation and links to these courses in the "Baseball Docs" section of this page.

Volunteer Requirement:

  • Warren Avenue Pee Wee Association is a 100% volunteer-run organization.
  • As a parent or guardian of the child or children being registered, you are committing to volunteer a minimum of 2 hours for each child to help the organization function.
  • Volunteer Time: The time is primarily designated for working in the concession stand, which is a crucial fundraising activity for the club. The success of the concession stand helps offset registration costs, gear replacements, and general club expenses.
  • Head Coaches of teams are exempt from the 2-hour concession stand volunteer requirement for the team they coach. If a coach has more than one child playing, the exemption applies only to the child on the team they are coaching.

Concession Volunteer Deposit:

  • Fee: $75 per child.
  • Payment: Must be made at the time of uniform pick-up.
  • Sign Up: Sign ups will be available once schedules have been determined
  • Refund: The deposit is refundable once you complete a 2-hour volunteer shift in the concession stand.
  • Details: This deposit will be returned to you after you complete your volunteer shift. If you do not volunteer, the deposit will be cashed after the last home game of the season.

Concession Volunteer Opt Out Fee:

  • Fee: $75 per child.
  • Payment: Must be made prior to receiving your uniform
  • Details: If you choose this option, you will not be required to volunteer in the concession stand during the season. This fee is non-refundable, even if you later decide to volunteer.

Thank you for supporting Warren Avenue Pee Wee Association through your time and volunteer efforts!
